Having a clogged up or completely used up air conditioning or furnace filter can mean trouble for your heating and air conditioning system. It could also mean trouble for your allergies if you have them. Sometimes, even if you do not have allergies, if you do not change your air conditioning or furnace filter, you will notice yourself getting cold or flu like symptoms. Symptoms such as runny nose, constant sneezing and even coughing and breathing issues. All the symptoms of the flu. When in fact, it is really just the air quality in your home going bad from not changing the air conditioning or furnace filter! This happened to me a few different times. I work a lot, so the air conditioning or furnace filter is the last thing on my mind every day. It turned out I had not changed the air conditioning filter in my central HVAC system in a few weeks over a year! This was causing me to have all of the flu symptoms I just mentioned off and on. It took me a bit to figure it out, but when I finally did, I nearly ran to change that HVAC filter as if I was running from a big fire in the house! After finally changing the air conditioning filter in my central HVAC system, it took a few weeks, but I finally was not having those flu symptoms anymore. I forgot to change the air conditioning filter again this year, but, I got to it a bit quicker this time when I had those symptoms coming back. Always remember to change your HVAC system’s filter is the moral of this story!
