Even a minor level of creativity can take you a long way! I don’t mean creative in terms of drawing or painting or performing, none of that artistic stuff. I mean using creativity and imagination to arrive at solutions for problems. Some people call that thinking outside the box, but I have always hated that expression. I have a sharp mind, but that has never translated into earning great money. So whenever I have an issue, I try to fix it myself instead of paying someone to do it for me.

Some weeks ago, at the beginning of a brutal winter, I started experiencing some complications with our central heating system. I checked everything that I normally check in my Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system, however everything seemed to be functioning as usual. Instead of calling in an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C repairman and paying that hundred bucks or so to get an answer, I started thinking up alternative solutions! The cheapest answer would be to start cutting wood so that I could use our fireplace. Nobody likes cutting wood, however having a roaring blaze in the heart of our fireplace would go a long way towards heating up the whole house. It would require some real hard work, of course, but also save me the cost of the house call plus the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C repairs.

I guess the fireplace isn’t a permanent solution to our heating situation, however it will have to do for now. When the Wintertide passes and our finances improve, I will call in an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier to assess the situation going forward.
