Being a climate control man, I have some super weird stories over the past many years on the job that would blow your mind. Being an HVAC repairman requires you to foster relationships with people and invade their personal space, so interesting stories are bound to happen from time to time. Just last winter, I had one of the most silly and bizarre encounters. I was sent over to a man’s small home to help repair his old and rusty climate control unit that broke down on him during a severe winter storm. I knew going into it that the unit was probably quite old, but when I arrived to his residence and did my inspection on the unit I could not believe what I saw. Most of the time when dealing with ancient climate control units they are often from the early eighties or at the earliest, the seventies. I kid you not this climate control system had to of been from the fifties, I guessed. I asked the curious old man how long ago it quit working and he said “sixteen years, but I thought now was as good a time as any to get it up and running”. I started to laugh and got to work. I made a show of working on this old piece of metal, but in the end I knew he needed to buy a replacement for the ancient machine during the summer. As a certified HVAC repair man, this was one of my crazier situations, and I have dealt with a lot!
