For the last month, my wife and I have had a cough that we just cannot kick… We both have a sore throat, watery eyes, and we just can’t stop sneezing! I started to feel that maybe we had finally developed allergic symptoms, as I had heard that you could develop them later in life. I asked my wife if she had remembered to change the air filter, and she assured me he had. Weeks of vitamins and cold medication, and still the symptoms persisted, so finally, we chose to go to the medical clinic together to see if they could tell us how to get better. While it is flu season, the physician thought our symptoms were from something else–poor indoor air quality. My wife and I don’t open our windows often, since we live in such an urban area. So, we tied up a central a/c tune-up and inspection from our local Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier. What that man discovered shocked us both… Even though we had changed the air filter as requested , the central AC device had grown mold. While the AC blows out cool air, inside its apparently warm; This warm moisture is the perfect breeding ground for mold and bacteria, which was being circulated through our whole place! The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C contractor helped us get rid of the mold, and even found a way to keep it from coming back… By installing a UVB light and an air purification method into the central AC air duct, our a/c method now also kills bacteria and stops mold spores from spreading. In only a week, we stopped sneezing and coughing. I’m looking forward to my wife and I being healthy again.
