I have been working at the same job for almost twenty years now, but I am not sure if that is a nice thing or a bad thing. Then when I finished up at school, I absolutely wanted to get a secure job more than anything. I had heard so many types of horror stories about school students who graduated and were not able to get jobs anywhere. I secured the job, but ever since then everything is the same. The people, the job I have to do, the level that the cooling system is kept, literally everything! I have gotten so used to it that I don’t even provide it a minute thought anymore. When I first started working here, I got a cold during the first week because of how cold the office was kept. I went to our boss and jokingly asked her why she keeps the heating and air conditioning unit so cold most of the mornings… Her response was that that is the way her boss had kept the cooling system, so she wanted to maintain tradition. She told myself her boss had a method in her head that the colder you keep it in an office, the more quickly they will be to get stuff done such as typing, replying to emails, and replying to customers. I had come over to talk to our boss about the cooling system as a bit of a joke, but now that I knew the true meaning of why she kept the building so cold, I felt a bit odd about it. I guess I need to begin looking for a different job. However a job that doesn’t try to freeze their employees to death with powerful cooling system in hopes of boosting the labor rate!
